40′ (12.19m) Ocean cruiser/live aboard ketch. Beam 13.5′. Draught 6’3″. Disp 17.7 tons. Sail area 850sqft.
A beamy craft with good accommodation for 4 or 5. Designed for either live-aboard or extended ocean cruising. Her double ended shape makes her one of the simplest designs for home construction. All topside fittings as well as masts and spars are well within the capabilities of being made by the amateur builder, offering a low cost ocean cruising home, spacious, functional and pleasing on the eye.
Plans are drawn for the hull to be constructed in ferro-cement but can also be adapted to wood strip-plank construction. If you are already familiar with steel plate forming the plans can also be adapted for constructing the hull in steel.
There is also a study pack available for this plan. Click here to view.
